How to Select HEIPI Arca-Swiss Quick Release Plates?
HP39 Qucik Release Plate
The HP39 quick release plate is the most compact one in the HEIPI camera plate family. It's designed for direct attachment to the camera body but not so much for lens bottom connection due to difficulties in adjusting the center of gravity. However, in specific situations, if there's no telephoto lens plate with you in the bag, or there's only a 1/4" screw hole on the lens foot, HP39 can be used for the connection between the lens and the tripod for emergency use. But to ensure the balance of the center of gravity, it should be mounted on the lens foot instead of the camera body.
In addition, remember to remove the quick release plate from head before mounting the plate on the camera body. Never screw the whole camera directly to the head! Finally, remember to secure it using a wrench or a coin. If the quick release plate is already mounted on the tripod head and you try to connect the camera to the tripod by direct rotating, it won't lock properly and could risk scratching the bottom of the camera.
HP80 VS HP120
The HP80 and HP120 Arca-Swiss quick release plates are longer than HP39. It is recommended to use them with lens of more than 1kg. The main difference between the two camera plates is the screw hole specifications catered to various lens feet. The HP80 comes with two detachable 1/4" screws, while the HP120 is equipped with two detachable 1/4" screws and an additional detachable 3/8" screw.
When using a heavier lens, it is recommended to use the longer HP120 quick release plate, which facilitates the adjustment of the center of gravity both forward and backward. And here's a tip: The double-sided scale marks on both HP80 and HP120 can serve as a reference during shooting, allowing quick positioning of the equipment. HP80 features anti-deflection that effectively manages deflection issues that arise when the lens foot is equipped with just a single screw hole.
HP80 is recommended to use with lens such as: Sony 70-200mm/F2.8, Nikon 70-200mm/F2.8, Canon 400mm/F2.8
HP120 is recommended to use with lens such as: Sony 200-600mm/F5.6-F6.3, Nikon 400mm/F2.8, Canon 600mm/F4, Sigma 150-600mm/F5-F6.3
HP230 Super Telephoto Lens Plate
HP230 is recommended to use with most of the 300mm (and above) prime lens or telephoto lens with a longest focal length greater than 400mm. Due to the tolerance or clearance fit in the connection between the lens and the camera body, users may experience some jitter when taking objects far away from the camera, impacting shooting outcomes. HP230 can secure both the camera holder and lens foot simultaneously, significantly enhancing the device's stability.
Compatible lenses: Sony 600mm/F4, Nikon 600mm/F4, Canon 800mm/F6.3, Sigma 800mm/F6.3 and more.
