Counterbalance Ball Head | Wildlife & Aerial

Dynamic Counterbalance Fast Target Tracking
Built for telephoto & super-telephoto lenses

13 lbs / 8 lbs Max Counterbalance

What is counterbalance force?

When the camera is tilted to any angle, the head delivers a precisely matched counterbalance force that fully offsets the camera's downward gravity, allowing the camera to remain stationary at any tilt angle.

  • KF60S Recommended equipment weight range: 8–12 lbs.
  • KF50S Recommended equipment weight range: 4.4 - 7.7 lbs.
Why Is Counterbalance a Must-Have?

When shooting with telephoto or super-telephoto lenses, photographers often face challenges such as heavy lens weight, long moment arm, and an extremely narrow field of view, making it difficult to track moving subjects.

The KF60S & KF50S ball head adopts the core technical points of Heipi's approved national invention patent.

Note on maximum counterbalance capacity

Maximum counterbalance capacity is not the head's structural load limit. It refers to the maximum weight for which the head can provide sufficient counterbalance force to keep the equipment stationary at any tilt angle. Exceeding the counterbalance capacity may lead to overloading, premature wear, or damage to the internal support structure components.

Recommended Combinations: K32 Tripod

🔍Quick Summary

KF50S and KF60S bring counterbalance support into a compact ball-head form for telephoto and super-telephoto photography. Both use the same patented, all-mechanical counterbalance architecture, but each model is tuned for a different complete camera-and-lens setup weight.

KF50S is the smaller, lighter model for complete setups weighing 2–3.5 kg / 4.4–7.7 lb. KF60S provides higher counterbalance for complete setups weighing 3.5–6 kg / 7.7–13.2 lb.

When the complete setup is correctly balanced and matched to the selected model, the head supports 360° horizontal tracking and unlocked holding at any reachable position throughout the ±40° tilt range, reducing repeated lock-and-unlock interruptions while following a moving subject.

Choose by the complete moving setup—not by focal length alone. Include the camera body, lens, collar or plate, teleconverter, mount adapter, and other mounted accessories.

KF50S — Compact 50 mm Model

• Counterbalance matching range: 2–3.5 kg / 4.4–7.7 lb
• Maximum counterbalance specification: 3.5 kg / 7.72 lb
• Head weight: 340 g / 0.76 lb
• Ball diameter: 50 mm / 1.97 in
• Base diameter: 51 mm / 2 in
• Dimensions: 3.11 × 3.54 × 3.23 in
• Included quick-release plate: 80 mm
• Best suited to lighter telephoto setups and photographers who prioritize a smaller, lighter head.

KF60S — Higher-Counterbalance 60 mm Model

• Counterbalance matching range: 3.5–6 kg / 7.7–13.2 lb
• Maximum counterbalance specification: 6 kg / 13.2 lb
• Head weight: 530 g / 1.1 lb
• Ball diameter: 60 mm / 2.36 in
• Base diameter: 63 mm / 2.48 in
• Dimensions: 3.54 × 3.94 × 4.02 in
• Included quick-release plate: 120 mm
• Best suited to heavier telephoto and super-telephoto setups that require greater counterbalance support.

Shared KF50/60S Advantages

• Patented, purely mechanical fixed-counterbalance architecture with no fluid damping oil
• 360° horizontal pan and ±40° pitch tilt
• When correctly balanced and matched to the selected model, the setup can remain at any reachable tilt position while the head is unlocked
• POM + 10% PTFE sliding bushing for wear resistance and reduced friction
• Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release system
• 3/8-inch base mounting thread
• Main Ball Head Lock for operating the pan-tilt mechanism, plus a separate Quick Release Clamp Lock for securing the camera
• Four-year warranty

Model Name Note

KF50S is a Counterbalance Ball Head and is distinct from KF50-S, the Twist Lock version of the conventional KF50 Ball Head.
